Sustainability
For us, luxury means responsibility.
As a former environmental journalist covering climate change, our founder Aiko Stevenson has always believed that beautiful design and genuine care for the planet should go hand in hand. MIKA & MILO was built on that belief — not as a trend or a tagline, but as the foundation of every decision we make, from the fibres we choose to the way we package your order.
Fibres That Respect the Earth
Every MIKA & MILO piece begins with our blend of 95% organic cotton and 5% cashmere. Our organic cotton is grown without the same reliance on synthetic pesticides as conventional cotton, and is gentler on sensitive skin. Our cashmere is sourced from Inner Mongolia, where the climate produces some of the world's finest, softest fibres.
We chose this blend because it gives children's knitwear what it actually needs: the softness of cashmere with the durability, practicality, and easy care that real family life demands.
Made in Small Batches
We work in small production runs, focusing on quality over quantity and using traditional techniques that create beautifully finished pieces designed to last. Making less, and making it better, is how we keep our knitwear out of landfill and in wardrobes for longer.
Thoughtful Packaging
We use recycled and compostable materials wherever possible, and keep our packaging minimal — practical and considerate, without excess.
Planting Trees, Every Month
Every month, we plant trees through the International Tree Organization to offset the carbon footprint of our shipping and production. The number grows alongside us, and we will publish the running total in our annual letter from December 2026 onwards.
It is, on its own, a small contribution. We know it does not undo what manufacturing and shipping cost. But it is one of several practices we believe a brand of our size should be doing as a matter of course, rather than holding up as a marketing claim. We mention it here because it is part of the work, not because it is a campaign.
Made to Last
The most sustainable garment is the one worn again and again. That is why we design every piece to soften with age rather than wear out — durable enough to wash and wear well, and timeless enough to hand down. A MIKA & MILO jumper is meant to outlast the child who wears it first.
A Journey, Not a Destination
We know we are not perfect. Sustainability is something we are always learning, refining, and getting better at — across our materials, our makers, our packaging, and the choices we make every day.
What we can promise is that we take it seriously, and always will.
Buy less. Choose well. Pass it on.
